List of Property Management Licensees to be Gazetted
Property Management Services Authority Conducts Compliance Inspection

In accordance with the requirement stipulated in the Property Management Services Ordinance (Cap. 626), the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) will publish in the Gazette tomorrow the list of licensees as of 31 July 2023 under the property management (PM) industry licensing regime.

As of today, the PMSA has already issued nearly 750 property management company (PMC) licences. As for property management practitioners (PMPs), discounting those who have obtained both formal and provisional licence as well as those who hold more than one class of licence, over 12,000 PMPs have already been licensed. These figures reflect that the industry embraces the licensing regime, and the PM industry of Hong Kong has entered the new era whereby relevant PMCs and PMPs are licensed and advancing towards enhanced quality and professionalism, and will make active contribution for the public to live and work in harmony.

Chairperson of the PMSA Dr James WONG said, “After the ending of the transitional period of the PM industry licensing regime, the PMSA has already proactively conducted compliance inspection. As of mid-August, nearly 60 properties involving 30 licensed PMCs have been inspected. The inspections covered properties of various categories (including residential properties, shopping malls, commercial and industrial buildings, etc.) in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, which are managed by various PMCs of small, medium or large scale. Results of the inspection show that the concerned PMCs have complied with relevant regulations (e.g. displaying copy of the licence and the name and licence number of the PMP (Tier 1) licensee responsible for managing the property at prominent place within the property, etc.).”

Besides regulating PM service provision through licensing, the PMSA will continue to issue codes and guides covering various aspects of PM work in order to provide practical guidance to the industry. The PMSA has also begun implementing the Continuing Professional Development Scheme on mandatory basis so as to encourage PMPs to advance with times by continuously educating themselves and enhancing their professional knowledge and skills. Through this three-pronged approach, the PMSA aims to drive the industry to advance towards enhanced quality and professionalism.
