Property Management Services Authority Conducted Exchange with Delegation of Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality and
Introduced the Implementation of the Hong Kong Property Management Industry Licensing Regime
(Hong Kong, 4 September 2023) The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchange with the delegation of the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (the Bureau) last Thursday (31 August) (the meeting originally was scheduled for 1 September and was held in advance on 31 August at the 3rd International Property Management and Procurement Expo (Expo) due to the impacting typhoon), and introduced PMSA’s work regarding implementation of the Hong Kong property management (PM) industry licensing regime. The delegation was led by Bureau leader ZHU Wenfang.
Chairperson of the PMSA Dr James WONG said, “Hong Kong is the only city in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to implement a PM industry licensing regime. With the ending of the three-year transitional period under the licensing regime, the PMSA introduced to the Bureau at the meeting its work experience on the three-pronged approach of regulating through licensing, issuing codes of conduct to provide practical guidelines and implementing Continuing Professional Development adopted to drive the industry development. Relevant PM companies and PM practitioners (PMPs) are now all licensed and the PM industry of Hong Kong is advancing towards enhanced quality and professionalism. The PMSA hopes that meeting with the Bureau helps promote the development of opportunites for licensed PMPs of Hong Kong to explore in other GBA cities, thereby fully driving Hong Kong’s active integration into the national development under the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and fostering GBA’s collaborative development.”
Staff of the Home Affairs Department also attended the meeting representing the Hong Kong SAR Government. Besides meeting with the PMSA, the Bureau delegation also participated in the Expo and visited various properties and industry organisations, interacting with various PM industry and professional organisations.
Chairperson WONG added, “The visit of the delegation this time has demonstrated and strengthened the co-operation and integration of the PM industry within the GBA and promoted innovation, harmony, quality and effective development of the industry.”
The exchange meeting was arranged by the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch.
