Property Management Services Authority Conducted Exchange with
Shanghai Property Management Association

The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchange today with representatives of the Shanghai Property Management Association (SPM), during which the PMSA introduced its work and the progress of implementing the property management (PM) industry licensing regime in Hong Kong. Exchanges were also made in respect of PM industry licensing work, regulatory arrangements and continuing professional development, etc.

Dr James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “It has been over a year since the three-year transitional period under the Hong Kong PM industry licensing regime ended on 31 July last year. The PMSA introduced to SPM representatives in the exchange today how it has driven the development of the PM industry in Hong Kong towards enhanced quality and professionalism through the three-pronged approach of “regulating by licensing”, “formulating professional standards” and “implementing continuing professional development”. On the other hand, SPM has been established for nearly 30 years, having continuously upheld its mission of fostering PM industry development of Shanghai and raising PM service standard, and through organising various professional training and exchanges, it drives the standardisation of the industry and raises its professional standard such that people can live and work in harmony. The efforts of the SPM and the PMSA in driving the PM industry to uphold the three core values of “Quality”, “Integrity” and “Advancement” echo each other with the same vision and mission in mind.”

Dr James Wong added, “Through strengthening exchange and collaboration with PM authorities and industries in different provinces and municipalities of the Mainland, the PMSA will continue to strive and seize development opportunities, and leverage the strengths of Hong Kong as the gateway to the international arena with the backing of the Mainland so as to develop more opportunities for the thriving of the PM industry in Hong Kong, and to drive as a whole the healthy development of the country’s PM industry.”

Under the PM industry licensing regime, over 790 PM companies and more than 14,700 PM practitioners in Hong Kong have already been licensed by the PMSA, providing PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. They constitute a major professional workforce, and have become invaluable asset and resources in driving the future development of Hong Kong. SPM’s visit to the PMSA reflects further collaboration and integration with the PM industry of the Mainland.
