Property Management Services Authority Conducts Exchange with Representatives of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers
The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) today met with Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’ (CIBSE) President-elect Vince Arnold, Chief Executive Officer Ruth Carter, and Director of Membership Richard Goldsbrough, as well as CIBSE Hong Kong Region’s Chair Hyvan Wong, Immediate Past Chairs Gary Chiang and Vincent Ma to introduce the work of the PMSA and the latest situation of the implementation of the property management (PM) industry licensing regime in Hong Kong.
Alan Siu, Chief Executive Officer of the PMSA, said, “Since the implementation of the PM industry licensing regime, the PMSA has been actively strengthening ties and communication with different international PM professional bodies, highlighting the strengths of Hong Kong with the Mainland as hinterland and its own international outlook to link up the local PM industry with other PM industries in the world, thereby raising the professional status and standard of the PM industry of Hong Kong. The exchange with representatives of the CIBSE this time has further enhanced the PMSA’s understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by the PM industry in different cities and countries, thereby promoting collaboration and integration with different places and creating room for development of the industry in future.”
Mr Siu added, “The PMSA is very grateful for CIBSE Hong Kong Region’s positive and strong support to the licensing regime as a PMSA Recognised Professional Body. In addition to assisting the PMSA to encourage their PM practitioner members to apply for licence, CIBSE has also provided invaluable impact to the PM Codes of Conduct and Best Practice Guides formulated by the PMSA for the industry. Moreover, CIBSE Hong Kong Region also fully cooperated with the PMSAto prepare for the implementation of the mandatory Continuing Professional Development Scheme in stages after the ending of the transitional period of the licensing regime, promoting together continuous self-development and advancement with the times among the PM industry.”
Under the licensing regime, there are currently around 800 licensed PM companies and nearly 15,000 licensed PM practitioners in the market, providing PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. This major professional force not only provides quality and professional PM services to the public, but also dedicates itself to supporting the implementation of various Government policies to help improve and resolve different social issues, actively contributing towards a healthy and sustainable development in future. They are undoubtedly invaluable assets and resources of Hong Kong.
