Property Management Services Authority Conducts Exchange with Xiamen Municipality Housing and Construction Bureau

The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchange today with the delegation of the Xiamen Municipality Housing and Construction Bureau. Exchanges were made in the areas of property management (PM) industry operation as well as collaboration and integration amongst the PM industries in Hong Kong and Xiamen. Representatives from the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government also participated in the exchange.

Dr James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “The Xiamen Municipality Housing and Construction Bureau is the government authority responsible for the management of housing and urban-rural development in Xiamen, dedicated to actualising the public to live in peace and contentment. The visit of Xiamen government leaders and PM experts to Hong Kong reflects closer collaboration and complementarity of edge between the PM industries of the Mainland and Hong Kong.”

Dr Wong added, “The PMSA carries the responsibilities of regulating PM companies and practitioners who provide PM services in Hong Kong as well as driving the industry towards professional development. Through implementing the licensing regime and other complementary measures, the PMSA drives and encourages the development of the PM industry towards quality and professionalism, thereby contributing positively for the public to work and live in harmony. The PMSA will also continue to seize development opportunities for the Hong Kong PM industry, highlighting the strengths of Hong Kong with the Mainland as hinterland and our own international outlook to create more room for development of the industry in future. This includes strengthening exchange and collaboration with PM authorities and industries in different provinces and municipalities of the Mainland so as to drive together a healthy and sustainable development of the PM industry countrywide.”

Besides visiting the PMSA, the delegation of the Xiamen Municipality Housing and Construction Bureau also visited several residential properties in Hong Kong and interacted with various local PM industry parties, with arrangement made by the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies.

Under the PM industry licensing regime, there are currently nearly 800 licensed PMCs and around 15,000 licensed PMPs who together provide PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. They are a major professional force and invaluable community assets and resources driving the future development of Hong Kong.
