Property Management Services Authority Conducts Exchange with
Guangdong Property Management Industry Institute
The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchange today with the delegation of the Guangdong Property Management Industry Institute. Exchanges were made in the areas of property management (PM) industry operation as well as collaboration and experience sharing amongst the PM industries in Hong Kong and Guangdong. Representatives from the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government also participated in the exchange.
Dr James Wong, Chairperson of the PMSA, said, “The visit of Guangdong PM leaders and experts to Hong Kong reflects close collaboration and complementarity of edge between the PM industries of the Mainland and Hong Kong.”
Dr James Wong added, “Hong Kong is currently the only city in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to implement a licensing regime for the PM industry. The PMSA has introduced to the delegation in the exchange today how the development of the PM industry in Hong Kong has been driven towards enhanced quality and professionalism through the three-pronged approach of “regulating by licensing”, “formulating professional standards” and “implementing continuing professional development” under the PM industry licensing regime. Through strengthening exchange and collaboration with PM authorities and industries in different provinces and municipalities of the GBA, the PMSA will continue to strive and seize the opportunities brought by the GBA development and leveraging the strengths of Hong Kong as the gateway to the international arena so as to create more room for the thriving of the PM industry in Hong Kong, and to drive the healthy development of the PM industry as a whole.
Besides meeting with the PMSA, the delegation will also visit residential properties in Hong Kong and interact with various local PM industry organisations, with arrangement made by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Property Managers. The delegation will also visit the Buildings Department and the Urban Renewal Authority to examine issues concerning building rehabilitation and urban redevelopment.
Under the PM industry licensing regime, there are currently over 810 licensed PM companies and more than 15,000 licensed PM practitioners who together provide PM services to over 2.4 million units in different types of properties in Hong Kong. They are a major professional force and invaluable community assets and resources driving the future development of Hong Kong.
